About the Project.
The San Diego Housing Commission wanted their new brand to be modern, while simultaneously human and empowering. I had previously worked for a nonprofit chapter of the San Diego Housing Federation, and was deeply interested in protecting the dignity of affordable housing.
The photographs provided by Salt Collective made my job very easy. I wanted to connect the beautiful, modern architecture of their projects with the simple block layout design of the report. The photographs were incorporated in as many places as possible so that the information would be presented in the same environment and setting as the architecture.
Traditionally our brand of affordable housing has been dominated by developers of the industry. Make it more open. We want to get across that, ‘We do things that touch people’s lives.'”
